I accept both eBooks and physical copies of books sent for review though
eBooks are preferred. When sending eBooks, PDF and EPUB files are ideal for me
to access.
For a frame of reference, I mainly read fantasy, contemporary, graphic
novels/manga, and crime/thriller books and tend to avoid romance novels. I
particularly look for diversity in novels and I’m looking to expand on my
library of diverse authors and stories such as LGBT+ representation, people of
colour, representation of people with mental health issues and disability
representation. I’m also particularly interested in Irish authors and books set
in Ireland.
I am always willing to give any book presented to me a fair opportunity to
be reviewed, and will always update the sender on whether or not I intend to
review it. I only review books I am able to finish and therefore might omit books
I feel compelled to abandon. This, however, is not a frequent occurrence and
any books I accept should expect at least a miniature review in a monthly Wrap
Up post or its own standalone post. You can feel free to specify your
expectations in regards to what kind of post you expect should I accept it and
I will absolutely take that into account when reviewing. Reviews will be posted
within a month of reception though any specific time frame can be requested and
it’ll also be taken into account. A minimum of 10 days should be expected from
these requests, and that’s honestly pushing it for me.
I do review books I do not like. I want to maintain a level of transparency
with my readers so I will be completely honest with my opinions of a book, and
I’m inflexible in that respect. That being said, no negative review will be
disrespectful or rude, and hopefully won’t be interpreted as such. I can always
not review a book should I not like it upon request, but any review will be entirely
truthful. Books I abandon will not get a review but I’m incredibly grateful for
any book given for review so I do make a concerted effort to complete books
sent to me.
You can contact me through my Contact Me page or via email at doubticanpaint@gmail.com
I will respond to every review request even if it is to tell you that I am
not interested in reviewing your book, purely to respect your time and I’m incredibly
grateful to be considered to review in the first place.
I post every Monday at the moment if there is a specific date you would like
a review to be posted on that can absolutely be discussed and I can deviate
from my schedule, I would ask that you give me at least two weeks before the
blog post publication date to read the book and gather my thoughts .
Any books I read will also be given a star rating on Goodreads and I will
put any written review from my blog post in the Goodreads review.
